Women's Hockey 1/4/09 -- Lake Forest (Ill.) 2, Augsburg 1

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (1/4/09) -- Scoring a goal in each of the first two periods, the Lake Forest College women's hockey team claimed a 2-1 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a nonconference contest on Sunday afternoon at the Alumni Memorial Rink.

Augsburg's (0-9-0 overall) Whitney Restemayer (JR, Bemidji, Minn.) scored the team's lone goal of the game with 15 seconds left in the third period, an extra-attacker goal from Brya Erickson (SO, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) and Tiffany Magnuson (SR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS).

Lake Forest (6-4-1 overall) scored both of its goals on the power play, going 2-for-10 with the extra skater. Meghan Fosth scored for the Foresters at the 10:44 mark of the first period, and Mira Trebilcock scored at the 16:44 mark of the second period.

Toni Menth (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) collected 35 saves in goal for the Auggies, as the Foresters claimed a 37-28 advantage in shots-on-goal.

The teams complete the nonconference series on Monday (1/5) at 4:30 p.m. Sunday's game was the first of five games in a seven-day span for Augsburg.
