Game Summary:
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (1/29/00) -- Erica Johnson (Sr.,
Blaine, Minn.) scored two goals and goalie Meg Schmidt (Sr.,
West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) scored a shutout in goal
as Augsburg College claimed its seventh win in a row, a 4-0 win
at Wesleyan (Conn.) in a nonconference women's hockey game Saturday
night.
Augsburg, the No. 2-rated team in the U.S.
College Hockey Online Division III national poll, improved
to 11-4 overall. Wesleyan dropped to 4-10-2 overall. The win was
the third in a row for Augsburg on its annual East Coast trip.
Johnson scored twice in the second period, once on the power
play, to give Augsburg its final margin of victory. Amber Nadreau
(Jr., Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian HS) and Stephanie
Johnson (Jr., Champlin, Minn./Anoka HS) also scored for the
Auggies.
Schmidt stopped all 17 shots she faced to notch her third shutout
of the season, setting a single-season school record in the process.
The previous record, two, was set by Kristin Lawson last
season.
Augsburg, now 11-4 overall, returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference play with a two-game series against Gustavus
Friday and Saturday (2/4-5). Friday's game is at Gustavus and
Saturday's game is at Augsburg. Both game times are at 7:05 p.m.
