ST. CLOUD, Minn. (1/14/00) -- Claiming eight of the 10 weight classes for the third dual in a row, Augsburg College scored a 28-6 victory over St. Cloud State in a nonconference wrestling dual meet Saturday afternoon at SCSU's Halenbeck Hall.

Augsburg, the top-ranked team in the lastest NCAA Division III national poll, improves to 5-1 overall in dual meets, while St. Cloud State, a Division II squad, drops to 1-4 overall.

Augsburg's two unbeaten wrestlers scored the squad's biggest victories of the afternoon. Nick Slack (So., Belle Plaine, Minn.) scored a 17-1, technical-fall victory at 174 pounds to improve to 17-0 overall, while Josh Cagle (Sr., Faribault, Minn.) improved to 22-0 overall with a 17-4, major-decision win at 149 pounds.

Brian Jones (Sr., Alexandria, Minn.) also had a major-decision win with an 11-0 triumph at 141. Decision wins for the Auggies came from Darin Bertram (So., Herman, Minn./Herman-Norcross HS, 13-1) at 125, John Marchette (Jr., Canton, Ohio/North Canton Hoover HS, 19-1) at 133, Justin Baker (Sr., Kerkhoven, Minn./Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunberg HS, 15-6) at 157, Josh Clausen (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn., 15-1) at 197 and Ben Bauer (Jr., Faribault, Minn., 21-1) at heavyweight.

SCSU claimed victories from Paul Arens (Fr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) at 165 and from Calvin McKinney (Jr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS), who claimed a 3-1 overtime win over Nik Lewandowski (Jr., Hastings, Minn.) at 184.

Augsburg competes at the University of Mary (N.D.) Invitational on Saturday (1/22) in Bismarck, N.D., while St. Cloud State competes at the Division II National Duals Friday and Saturday (1/21-22) at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
