MINNEAPOLIS (2/11/00) -- Sweeping all 10 weight classes, the Augsburg College wrestling team dominated in a 47-0 shutout over Wisconsin-Stevens Point Friday night in a nonconference dual meet at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall.

Augsburg, now 11-1 in dual meets this season, entered the meet as the No. 1-rated team in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national poll. Wisconsin-Stevens Point dropped to 1-8 on the season.

Augsburg notched three pins, two technical falls and four major-decision victories in storming to the win.

Josh Cagle (Sr., Faribault, Minn.) improved to 34-0 with his school-record 20th technical fall win of the year, a 15-0 match-opening win at 149 pounds over Stevens Point's Mike Nechuta (Fr., Mosinee, Wis.). Cagle is one of four Auggies rated No. 1 in the nation in their weight classes.

Darin Bertram (So., Herman, Minn./Herman-Norcross HS), the No. 1-ranked wrestler at 125, improved to 24-1 with a first-period pin, while John Marchette (Jr., Canton, Ohio/North Canton Hoover HS), the top-rated wrestler at 133, notched a major-decision 17-4 win at 133. Nik Lewandowski (Jr., Hastings, Minn.), top-ranked at 184, also picked up a major-decision, 15-1 win.

Drew Gau (So., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) at 157 and Brian Jones (Sr., Alexandria, Minn.) at 141 had the other Auggie pins, and Josh Clausen (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) had the other technical fall for the Auggies, at 197.

Bob Weix (Sr., Merril, Wis.) was the lone Pointer to hold an Auggie to a regular three-point decision, with his 10-6 loss to Tony Abbott (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) at 165.

Augsburg has its last dual meet of the season on Sunday (2/13) at South Dakota State University, while Stevens Point returns to action Saturday (2/12) with duals at Wisconsin-River Falls (12 noon) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (4 p.m.).
