HERE FOR GAME BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS (10/22/05) -- Making her first collegiate start in goal, Bethel University's Angela Mooney (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) collected 17 saves for the shutout, as the Royals played to a scoreless tie with host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer game on Saturday afternoon at Augsburg's Edor Nelson Field. Augsburg is now 8-1-6 overall, 5-1-3 in MIAC play. The tie keeps Augsburg in contention for a berth in the four-team MIAC postseason playoffs for the second straight year. With 13 points in conference play, Augsburg moved into sole possession of fourth place in the MIAC. St. Benedict, which scored a 1-0 win over St. Mary's on Saturday, now has 14 points and is in a second-place tie with Concordia-Moorhead, both with 7-2-0 conference records. St. Thomas is in fifth place with 12 points (6-3-0 MIAC), and St. Mary's is in sixth place with 10 points (5-4-0 MIAC). In her 15th collegiate start, Maggie DeGroot (Fr., Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West HS) claimed 10 saves in goal to record her seventh shutout for Augsburg. DeGroot is now tied for fifth place on Augsburg's single-season shutout record list; the record is nine, set by Beth Petrik in 1997 and Laura Hoffman in 2002. Bethel is now 5-9-2 overall, 0-7-2 in MIAC play. Augsburg claimed 31 shots to Bethel's 18. Both teams had five shots in overtime, with DeGroot recording two saves and Mooney recording three saves. Emily Anderson (Jr., Hudson, Wis.) had 10 shots for the Auggies, while Millie Suk (Sr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) had seven shots and Aili Brom-Palkowski (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) had five shots. For Bethel, Lauren Johnson (Jr., St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) and Jessie Tschetter (So., Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman HS) had seven shots apiece. Augsburg returns to MIAC play on Wednesday (10/26) at 7:30 p.m., hosting Gustavus at Edor Nelson Field. Bethel returns to action on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. with an MIAC game at St. Mary's.
