MINNEAPOLIS (10/22/05) -- Making her first collegiate start in goal, Bethel University's Angela Mooney (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) collected 17 saves for the shutout, as the Royals played to a scoreless tie with host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer game on Saturday afternoon at Augsburg's Edor Nelson Field.

Augsburg is now 8-1-6 overall, 5-1-3 in MIAC play. The tie keeps Augsburg in contention for a berth in the four-team MIAC postseason playoffs for the second straight year. With 13 points in conference play, Augsburg moved into sole possession of fourth place in the MIAC. St. Benedict, which scored a 1-0 win over St. Mary's on Saturday, now has 14 points and is in a second-place tie with Concordia-Moorhead, both with 7-2-0 conference records. St. Thomas is in fifth place with 12 points (6-3-0 MIAC), and St. Mary's is in sixth place with 10 points (5-4-0 MIAC).

In her 15th collegiate start, Maggie DeGroot (Fr., Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West HS) claimed 10 saves in goal to record her seventh shutout for Augsburg. DeGroot is now tied for fifth place on Augsburg's single-season shutout record list; the record is nine, set by Beth Petrik in 1997 and Laura Hoffman in 2002.

Bethel is now 5-9-2 overall, 0-7-2 in MIAC play.

Augsburg claimed 31 shots to Bethel's 18. Both teams had five shots in overtime, with DeGroot recording two saves and Mooney recording three saves.
