Cross Country 10/27/07 -- Augsburg at MIAC Championships

ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/27/07) -- With nine runners compiling personal-best times, the Augsburg College men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Como Park Golf Course.

Four Auggie men claimed personal-best times for the second straight meet, as the Auggies finished ninth with 251 team points. On the women's side, five Auggies claimed personal-best times, en route to a 12th-place team finish with 345 points.

Chris Scribner (Jr., New York, N.Y./Port Townsen HS) improved his 8,000-meter personal-best time by 37 seconds with a 26:59.15 time, placing 34th overall. Shane Wyborny (So., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) took 24 seconds off his personal-best time with a 27:31.80, 47th-place finish. Victor Sanchez (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS) took 29 seconds off his previous personal-best time with a 28:54.95, 105th-place finish, and Jason Chrudimsky (Fr., Antigo, Wis.) bettered his previous best by two seconds with a 31:25.80, 178th-place finish.

Brent Haglund (So., Fridley, Minn.) finished 39th overall for the Auggies with a 27:04.90 finish, while Keagan Marble (Fr., Waseca, Minn.) finished 131st overall in 29:39.60.

For the Auggie women, Jennifer Lovering (Fr., Bemidji, Minn.) took another 37 seconds off her previous 6,000-meter personal-best, set last week, with a 23:58.70 seconds to place 34th overall. Since the start of the season, Lovering has cut her 6,000-meter time by 1:48.

Kim Carlson (Fr., New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) took five seconds off her previous best with a 26:12.10, 119th-place finish. Tori Bahr (Jr., Brainerd, Minn.) took 1:02 off her previous personal-best, set in 2005, with a 26:57.70, 150th-place finish.

Sarah Peloquin (Sr., Prescott, Wis.) broke her personal-best time by 34 seconds with a 27:04.20, 152nd-place time, while Ashley Stoffers (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) nearly tied her personal-best time with a 27:25.60, 162nd-place finish. Bree McLuen (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn./Alpha Omega Academy HS) claimed a personal-best time by 32 seconds with a 27:30.25, 165th-place finish.

Augsburg will compete at the NCAA Division III Central Regional on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
