Kathy Schwalbe has been at Augsburg since 1991. She is a senior
faculty member for the MIS program and has taught every course in the MIS curriculum.
Before joining the faculty at Augsburg, Kathy worked in a variety of industry positions for ten years. Her first job was as a project manager and officer in the United States Air Force at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts. She then worked as a senior engineer, information technology specialist, and management consultant at McDonnell Aircraft Company (now Boeing in St. Louis, Missouri), then as an independent consultant for Clark Oil Company in St. Louis.
Schwalbe's main research interest is in the area of project management. She has written several books, with the fourth edition of Information Technology Project Management published in 2006. It has been translated into both Chinese and Japanese. Schwalbe is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
