Marcus LeVesseur: Pursuing Perfection
In the pursuit of perfection, Marcus LeVesseur
has few peers.
Through his first three years as an Augsburg
College wrestler, LeVesseur has yet to lose a
collegiate match, a 124-0 streak that currently
stands as the second-longest unbeaten streak in
college wrestling history, behind the 159-0 record
of Iowa State legend Cael Sanderson (1998-2002).
He has won three individual national titles at
157 pounds for the Auggies, winners of nine NCAA
Division III national championships in the last
15 seasons.
In 2004, LeVesseur expanded his horizons to
the international level, beating five Division
I wrestlers to win the 74-kilogram class at the
USA Wrestling University National Freestyle Championships
before placing 10th while representing his country
at the FISU World University Wrestling Championships
in Poland.
But wrestling isn’t the only place where
LeVesseur is pursuing perfection. In his first
season playing college football in 2004, LeVesseur
set several school records for rushing while earning
All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
honors for the Auggies, starting eight games at
quarterback.
