Safe Space Training LGBTQIA Support Services provides training to students, faculty, and staff who wish to visually show their support for LGBTQIA people by publicly displaying one of the below symbols. Safe Space sessions are divided into two sessions: Safe Space I and Safe Space II. Safe Space I is a highly interactive and conversational session which goes over things like vocabulary to know in regards to gender identity and sexual orientation, myths and stereotypes associated with the LGBTQIA community, and how to support someone who is a member of this community. Safe Space II takes time to look at one specific issue more in depth. Topics for this can include Transgender Identity, LGBTQIA People of Color as well as a host of other issues which require further exploration. Safe Space trainings are provided each fall and spring semester. If you are interested in attending one of these sessions, please feel free to contact us at lgbtqia@augsburg.edu. |
