Campus and Community Food Coordinator – apply here and fill out this quick supplemental form

(10 hours/week)

Primary Job Duties: 

  • Serve as part of student leadership team for Campus Kitchen programming, working with fellow students to coordinate weekly meals, on-campus outreach and education opportunities, and community engagement efforts
  • Lead food distribution efforts and coordinate program logistics (eg. weekly grocery shopping and meal planning, record keeping)
    • Student must be available to prep and serve at least one of the following meals each week:
      • Brian Coyle Center (youth): Monday-Thursday, 2:30-5:30pm
      • Peace House (adults): Tuesday, 11-1:30pm
      • Senior Housing (Ebenezer Tower, Seward Tower, home deliveries): Thursday, 11-1:30pm
      • Senior Banquet( Ebenezer Tower): Friday, 4:00-7:00pm
  • Depending on availability and interest, other opportunities may include gleaning produce from the Seward Co-op on Friday afternoons, coordinating set-up and management of weekly Farmer’s Market (Thursday, 11-2pm through September), assisting with communications and social media, and assisting in the community garden
  • Attend bi-weekly leadership team meetings

Conditions of Employment: 

  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Must be able to consistently lead weekly meal shifts all semester
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Reliable and prompt (if you do not show up to your scheduled shift, the youths, adults, and seniors don’t eat), yet flexible and creative enough to roll with changing schedules and needs
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience cooking and serving food helpful, but not necessary (training provided)
  • Somali or Oromo language skills a plus
