Internships

Campus Kitchen is currently accepting applications for two internships this summer! Apply by April 27 and then fill out this quick supplemental form.

Operations Intern – apply here!

(10 hours/week, May – August)

Job Functions:

  • Leading food distribution efforts and coordinate program logistics through the summer. Depending on availability, the student may coordinate groceries and supplies, lead volunteers and work with youth interns, and lead at least one of the following meal shifts :
    • Brian Coyle Community Center (Pillsbury United Communities): M-Th, 10:00am-2:00pm
    • Peace House: T, 11:30-1:00pm
    • Senior Housing (Ebenezer, Seward Tower, home deliveries): Th, 11-1:30pm
    • Senior Banquet (Ebenezer): F, 4:00-7:00 pm
    • Gleaning (Mill City Farmer’s Market): Sat, 12:00-3:00pm
    • Cooking (Augsburg kitchen): days/times flexible (Sunday-Wednesday)
  • Other opportunities may include coordinating set-up and management of weekly Farmer’s Market, assisting with communications and event planning, assisting in the community garden, and teaching gardening or nutrition lesson with youth and Brian Coyle Community Center.

Requirements:

  • Active drivers’ license and comfortable driving in south Minneapolis
  • Ability to lift large boxes and pans of food
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Reliable and prompt, yet flexible and creative enough to roll with changing schedules and needs
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive without direct supervision and guidance at all times
  • Adherence to food safety and operation procedures (our full training program can be seen at www.augsburg.edu/campuskitchen/training)
  • Somali language skills a plus (for Brian Coyle shifts)

Compensation:

Senior Hunger Assistant – apply here!

(2-5 hours/week, 50 hours total for the summer)

Job Functions:

  • Conducting Food Security surveys with client agencies and individual clients; compiling results for grant reporting and sharing with CK stakeholders
  • Leading Thursday senior meal delivery (weekly) and/or Friday senior banquet shifts (twice monthly)- following all food safety guidelines to prep and deliver food, documenting meals, and leading volunteers
  • Preserving garden and gleaning produce for use during the school year, paying special attention to nutritional needs of seniors
  • Continuing outreach efforts to new clients and to volunteers

Requirements:
