What is Parent SOAR?
Parent SOAR is an optional two-day orientation experience for the parents and guardians of first-year students that runs concurrently with their student's SOAR session. Parents will obtain important information about the campus, meet fellow parents, faculty, and staff; learn about college resources and services; and get a taste of what life will be like for their students on campus.
Is Parent SOAR required?
No. Parent SOAR is not required, but all parents and guardians are welcome to attend.
Is overnight housing available on campus for parents or siblings?
No. There is no overnight housing available on campus for parents or siblings. The hotel nearest to Augsburg is the Holiday Inn - Metrodome. They can be contacted at 612/333-4646.
How do parents register for Parent SOAR?
Registration for Parent SOAR will be available in April 2010.
When and where is check-in for Parent SOAR?
Check-in and other pre-orientation activities will take place between 8:00am - 10:00am on the first day of each Parent SOAR session and will be located in the Christensen Center Lobby.
What should parents bring to Parent SOAR?
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Comfortable weather-appropriate clothing
- Umbrella
What can parents expect at Parent SOAR?
Parents and guardians will discover the Augsburg Promise, learn about academic requirements for graduation, hear from the President of Augsburg, get their questions answered, and meet fellow parents of other incoming first-year students.
Where is parking available during Parent SOAR?
Parking is available in any designed Augsburg College parking lot for free of charge. A map of parking lots on campus can be found here.
