What is Parent SOAR?
Parent SOAR is an optional two-day orientation experience for the parents and guardians of first-year students that runs concurrently with their student's SOAR session (excluding SOAR III). Parents and guardians will obtain important information about the campus, meet fellow parents, current students, faculty, and staff; learn about college resources and services; and get a taste of what life will be like for their students on campus.
What if I cannot attend Parent SOAR I or II but still want to attend an Orientation Program?
Evening Parent SOAR is available for parents and guardians who cannot attend a full two-day orientation program. This program will be offered in the evening of Wednesday, July 25 for all parents and guardians, regardless of which SOAR session their first-year student is attending. Evening Parent SOAR will cover the basics of what the longer, two-day Parent SOAR programs cover.
Is Parent SOAR or Evening Parent SOAR required?
No. Neither Parent SOAR or Evening Parent SOAR are required, but all parents and guardians are welcome to attend one of these programs.
Is overnight housing available on campus for parents or siblings?
No. There is no overnight housing available on campus for parents and guardians or siblings. The hotel nearest to Augsburg College is the Holiday Inn - Metrodome, (612) 333-4646.
How do parents register for Parent SOAR and Evening Parent SOAR?

When and where is check-in for Parent SOAR and Evening Parent SOAR?
Parent SOAR: Check-in and other pre-orientation activities will take place between 8:00-9:30 a.m. on Day 1 of each Parent SOAR session and will be located in the Christensen Center Lobby. Each Parent SOAR session will conclude by 12:00 p.m. on Day 2.
Evening Parent SOAR: Check-in will take place between 4:00-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25 and will be located in the Christensen Center Lobby. During check-in parents and guardians will also have an opportunity to attend an optional showcase of Augsburg College offices and departments, as well as a community dinner. Evening Parent SOAR programming will conclude by 9:00 p.m.
What should parents bring to Parent SOAR and Evening Parent SOAR?

- Comfortable weather-appropriate clothing
- Umbrella
What can parents expect at Parent SOAR and Evening Parent SOAR?
Parents and guardians will discover the Augsburg Promise, learn about academic requirements for graduation, hear from the President of Augsburg, get their questions answered, and meet fellow parents of other incoming first-year students.
Where is parking available during Parent SOAR and Evening Parent SOAR?
During Parent SOAR and Evening Parent SOAR programming parking is available in any designed Augsburg College parking lot for free of charge. A map of parking lots on campus can be found here.
