Students have the opportunity to become involved in a number of different student groups at Augsburg College. Participation allows students to meet fellow classmates, have fun, and lead and develop an organization around a common purpose while making an impact on both the Augsburg and greater community. Student clubs can be organized by a minimum of four currently-enrolled Augsburg College students. These student groups are not recognized by either the Augsburg Day Student Government or the Weekend and Evening College (WEC) Student Senate, and thus cannot apply for grants or budgets from either.
Chartered student organizations can be organized by a minimum of four currently-enrolled Augsburg College students and an advisor who is a staff or faculty member at the college. These groups are recongized by either the Augsburg Day Student Government or the WEC Student Senate, and can apply for grants from either government.
Commissioned student organizations can be organized by a minimum of four currently-enrolled Augsburg College students and an advisor who is a staff or faculty member at the college. These groups are recongized by and receive an annual budge from the Augsburg Day Student Government, and can apply for grants from either that government or the WEC Student Senate.
Starting / Re-Registering a Student Group
All student groups who wish to register as a Student Group must complete the appropriate Registration Form, available at CAO Request Forms, and schedule a meeting with Michael Grewe, CAO Assistant Director, at grewe@augsburg.edu.

CAO staff are here to advice student group leaders about ways to facilitate meetings, recruit members, plan programming, advertise events and much more. Feel free to schedule an appointment with the CAO Assistant Director anytime.
Auggie Room
Available to Student Clubs and Student Organizations
Student groups have access to the supplies located in the Auggie Room. Student groups may utilize this space to make posters, laminate publications, and work on other projects; they may also utilize the materials in the room, such as balloons, poster paper, markers, etc. Any student group that utilizes the Auggie Room is responsible for cleaning the room after the completion of their projects. Any abuse of the Auggie Room and/or misuse of the Auggie Room materials will result in denial of Auggie Room privileges for that student group. This space is available during regular CAO hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, provided there is a CAO staff member available to unlock the room.
CAO Events Calendar
Available to Student Clubs and Student Organizations
CAO keeps an Events Calendar on its website at www.augsburg.edu/cao of all the student group activities about which it is notified. To submit your event, simply email cao@augsburg.edu, subject line "Events Calendar", with the following information:
- Name of event, date, time, and location
- Student group hosting the event
- Email and phone number of the main contact
Funding and Grants
Available to Student Organizations
Student organizations may apply for funding through the Augsburg Day Student Government or the Weekend & Evening College Student Senate. Because funding is limited, student organizations must apply for available funds by completing a Grant Request Form, located in the Auggie's Nest. Student organizations may also choose to solicit donations through charitable contributions, fundraising, or drawings. For the latter two, you must fill out a Fundraising Permit, which is available at CAO Request Forms.
Mailboxes
Available to Student Organizations
Student organizations may request to have their own mailbox in the Auggie's Nest if they wish to receive mail through Campus Box 75. If your student organization is interested, please contact the CAO Assistant Director.
Painting the Skyway between Christensen Center and Urness-Mortensen Lobby
Available to Student Clubs and Student Organizations
Student groups may reserve the Skyway between Christensen Center and Urness-Mortensen Lobby on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve this space, fill out a Christensen, Urness-Mortensen Skyway Painting Reservation Form, available at CAO Request Forms. You must turn it in at least 1 week in advance of your start date, and the Skyway may only be reserved for up to 2 weeks. Your student group may only use tempera paints or markers specifically made to write on glass. You are responsible for cleaning up the painted windows at the end of your reservation. Additionally, arrangements must be made with CAO in advance of this clean up. If the skyway has not been cleaned within 24 hours of the end of the reservation, a $75 charge will be assessed to your student group.

Poster Design
Available to Student Organizations
Student organizations have access to free poster design by CAO. Poster requests must be made at least one week prior to the due date. To submit a poster design request, fill out a Poster Design Request Form, available at CAO Request Forms. A proof will be sent to your student organization via email within 2-3 days of submitting your request. Student organizations are responsible for printing and distributing the posters themselves.
Storage
Available to Student Organizations
Student organizations have the option of renting a locker in the Auggie's Nest for the duration of the academic year. Because there are more student organizations than there are lockers available, student organizations must fill out an application. Lockers are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Student organizations that receive a locker will obrtain a combination for their lock. If this lock is lost, or if the locker becomes damaged in any way, please inform CAO staff immediately. Student Group Workshop Series
Available to Student Clubs and Student Organizations
This series will offer ten workshops throughout the academic year to student group leaders and members. Each session will cover different topics relating to strengthening the awareness, leadership, management, and organizational skills of student leaders around a myriad of different topics: program planning, recruitment, membership retention, budgets, goal setting, effective marketing and advertising, facilitation, being inclusive and welcoming, time management, and much more. The dates and times for this workshops are:

Technology Services
Available to Student Organizations
In order to enhance the communications available for your student organization's leaders and members, CAO and Information Technology offer a variety of technology services. These services may include a telephone, an AugNet email account, and AugNet folder, a Moodle site, and web space under the web.augsburg.edu web domain. Student organizations must demonstrate they are eligible for these services by filling out a Technology Services Request Form, which are available at CAO Request Forms.
Work Areas
Available to Student Organizations
There are several workstations and three officers in the Auggie's Nest for student organizations to reserve for an entire academic year. Because there are more student organizations than there are workstations and offices, all student organizations must apply for these work areas and demonstrate a need for them.
If a student organization receives a workstation or an office, they are responsible for keeping regular office hours throughout the entire academic year. Workstations must be staffed a minimum of 10 hours per week during the academic year; offices, a minimum of 20 hours per week. A staffing schedule for your student organization's workstation or office must be provided to the CAO Assistant Director by the end of the third full week of each term.
