Counseling and Health Promotion - Community Resources

Low Cost Health Care - Augsburg students have access to low-cost ($5 co-pay) health care through Smiley's Clinic. See CCHP Services for more information on what is covered.

Minnesota Health Care Programs - General information page on several Minnesota Health Care programs.

Medical Assistance - Healthcare coverage for people with low incomes.

Minnesota Care - A subsidized, low cost insurance program for uninsured residents of Minnesota who meet certain income, asset, and property guidelines.

Assured Care (Hennepin County Community Health Department) - A discount program that helps you save money on health care you receive at Assured Care Network Clinics; discounts range from 25% to 75%, discounts are based on income and family size; includes doctor visits, tests, hospitalization, dental care, prescriptions, chiropractic. To be eligible, you must live in Hennepin County, have no health insurance or meet Assured Care guidelines, not be eligible for Medical Assistance or Medicare, not have assets above Assured Care guidelines, and have a household income within certain guidelines (example: 98/99 guidelines for single person/no children must be less than $1342 monthly income).

Minute Clinic - Minute Clinic provides services for a variety of common family illnesses to patients 18 months and older. One Minute Clinic is located on the U of MN campus and open October through April each year. Click on the Find a Clinic link to get more information on the U of MN location.

Neighborhood Health Care Network - 20 clinics in metro area on sliding fee scale or flexible payment plan. Callers can also receive assistance in applying for Minnesota state health care programs and access free medical advice over the phone.

Community-University Health Care Center - Hmong, Lao, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Somali, and Spanish interpreters on staff. Medical and dental services availalbe. May qualify for a sliding fee if Hennepin County resident.

People's Center Medical Clinic at Cedar-Riverside People's Center - Medical Clinic located one block from Augsburg; family practice, women's health, and dental clinic. Also provides STD testing and treatment, and smoking cessation.

Family Tree Clinic - Reproductive medical services on sliding fee scale for men and women. In-depth family planning and decision-making counseling to patients who are considering sexual involvement for the first time or who are coming in for their first pelvic exam. Services include: pap smears, birth control services, colposcopy, emergency contraception, screening and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy testing and counseling, individualized midlife/menopause services, and a Herpes Support Group. Located off Snelling and I-94 in St. Paul.

TAMS (Teen Age Medical Service) - For young people ages 10-23. No one refused service due to inability to pay.

Sage Screening Program - Program that provides free mammograms and pap smears to Minnesotans depending on eligibility guidelines (must be uninsured or underinsured).

St. Mary's Health Clinics - Provides health care services at no cost to low income, uninsured individuals and families. Donation for services appreciated. 11 clinics in the metro area.

Planned Parenthood  - Family planning assistance, STD testing

Childhood Immunizations - If uninsured, you can get immunizations for children at clinics held each month. Call for locations and times.
