FACULTY - Joanne Price

Instructor

The accessible art of the multiple, printmaking offers efficient processes, some with little financial investment, all with unique outcomes that can be applied to many different aspects of art. Relief, intaglio, monotype and screenprinting together encompass alternative approaches to mediums such as digital art, photography, drawing and painting. Printmaking fosters cooperation and collaboration within a studio art environment.

Joanne Price has collaborated with many contemporary artists and printed professionally for Highpoint Editions in Minneapolis. She also worked as the studio and exhibitions manager while assisting the master printer at Highpoint Center for Printmaking (HCP) since 2003. Price has taught several classes at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA), HCP, University of Minnesota and the College of Visual Arts. Price is currently the exhibitions manager for the MCBA. Honors include the Marie Dellas Creativity Award (1997), a Bush Foundation grant (2006) for faculty development, and most recently a Jerome Book Arts Fellowship grant (2009) through the MCBA.

In addition to exhibiting work locally, nationally and internationally, Price recently finished a two-year hand printed book project, "The Palm Tree Story." Price is currently illustrating strong visual images, culled from her interest in mythology, folk and fairytales, compelling stories and narratives while continuing a lifelong study of printmaking techniques through practice, travel and scholarship.
