Augsburg for Adults Director
Lori first came to Augsburg to teach in the Business Administration department, but after a short time she was called to a different post. While she continues to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, her work as the Director of Augsburg for Adults gives Lori the opportunity to combine her managerial expertise with her passion for teaching adult learners.
She brings her enthusiasm for learning to her work with adult students in and out of the classroom. “I have an insatiable curiosity about many things,” she says. “I love making the links between seemingly disparate pieces of information and study, and I push my students to be curious and utilize this type of systems thinking approach.” Lori also likes to employ experiential learning techniques in the classroom whenever she can. “I believe we can learn a lot by exercising our playful, imaginative side,” she adds.
Lori encourages students to come to Augsburg to learn about working together and about management of their lives. She says, “We all interact with others from diverse cultural backgrounds -- in our social groups, in our work, in our learning environments. Also, we all manage something: ourselves and our time and resources, perhaps a social group or a project. We all can do these things better!”
Lori conducts research is in the area of andragogy -- best practices in teaching adults. She is also interested in the experiences of corporate expatriates, those who are living and working in a non-native culture.
