FACULTY - Michael Kidd

Associate Professor

Teaches Spanish language, literature, and culture in Languages and Cross-Cultural Studies

One of his most memorable experiences? Playing the role of Herod in a medieval Spanish mystery play.

Conducts research in Medieval and Renaissance Spanish literature, Spanish theater and
performance, the classical tradition, and literary translation.

Spanish is one of the five most-spoken languages in the world and the fastest-growing language in the United States. The foundations of modern civilization were laid in the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

What else would you like students to know about you?
I'm new to Augsburg but not to Minnesota. I taught for three years at Carleton and one year each at Macalester and St. Olaf. Before that I taught for eight years at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, which included a one-year sabbatical in Spain and Italy.
