FACULTY - Kenneth S Kaminsky
Professor
Kenneth Kaminsky taught mathematics and statistics in colleges and universities in both the United States and Sweden before coming to Augsburg. He is founder and editor of the department’s newsletter Augarithms, which is beloved by many for the Professor Fogelfroe cartoons he draws. (You can find Professor Fogelfroe and other Kaminsky cartoons at mathcartoons.com)
Kaminsky’s recent book, Financial Literacy: Introduction to the Mathematics of Interest, Annuities, and Insurance, written originally as a text for Augsburg’s Math of Interest course, was recently published by University Press of America.
He has probably stopped moving now, because his wife, Amy, is a Professor of Women's Studies in the same city: Minneapolis. They have two children. Jonathan 25, is a 2000 graduate of Macalester College and an investigator for the Civilian Complaint Review Board in New York. David, a 1996 graduate of Macalester College, is 28 and working on his dissertation in ethnomusicology at Harvard University. Kaminsky’s non-mathematical passions include table tennis, music, movies, eating out, photography, studying languages, his recumbent bicycle, and his motor scooter.
