FACULTY - Magdeline Aagard
Associate Professor
Magdeline teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate nursing programs. Her areas of expertise include transcultural nursing, nursing leadership theory, adult education, and ethnonursing and phenomenological qualitative nursing research methods. She has practiced as the director of a bone marrow transplant program, of cardiovascular and pulmonary services, as a cardiovascular research nurse clinician, and as an intensive care unit nurse. Magdeline is also a member of the faculty at North Hennepin Community College, where she teaches second level students medical/surgical nursing, and leadership and management. She has also supervised clinical experiences in the accelerated bachelor’s degree program through Metro State.Magdeline has her own consulting firm specializing in implementing Western healthcare programs in indigenous cultures. Her most recent work has been for the University of Minnesota Physicians implementing a bone marrow transplant program at a private hospital in Bangalore, India. She has also worked extensively with Global Health Ministries with their hospitals and schools of nursing in India and writing grants for HIV/AIDS work in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Tanzania.
Magdeline’s research has explored how Western healthcare programs are successfully implemented in indigenous cultures and how nursing leadership is understood and expressed in different cultures. Her presentations focus on transcultural nursing in India and Tanzania, as well as her research endeavors.
