FACULTY - Kristin M Anderson

Professor

KRISTIN ANDERSON is an art historian, the college archivist, and the recipient of Distinguished Contributions to Teaching and Learning: 2005 Teaching Award. She’s been teaching courses on the history of art at Augsburg College since 1984, including regular offerings of the art history survey as well as specialized courses like Medieval Art, Women and Art, and Scandinavian Art. Kristin has also taught interdisciplinary courses, including a Theatre-Music-Art course for Augsburg’s Honors program. She also teaches a popular course, The Designed Environment, about the architectural and urban history of the Twin Cities. The class meets at a different location for each session, bringing students face-to-face with the buildings they study.

Kristin's current writing and research on the history of baseball parks in Minneapolis and St. Paul is a logical outgrowth of her continuing studies of sports history and sports architecture. Other research interests include Scandinavian immigrant folk art and the altar paintings tradition of the Norwegian-Americans.
