Commencement
June Cap and Gown
General Information
Academic dress (cap and gown) is worn for both the Baccalaureate service and the Commencement Ceremony.
- Gowns are worn closed, without jewelry, flowers, or other accessories.
- Honor cords are worn around the neck. We suggest you pin these to your robe.
For all candidates, caps are worn with the mortar board flat (parallel to the floor), short point to the front. Tassels are worn to the right throughout the day. Men should remove their caps for prayers.
Augsburg has selected custom gowns for 2013 that feature the Augsburg Seal.
Graduate students purchase their hoods at the bookstore and receive them during the commencement ceremony.
Purchasing Your Gown
Caps and gowns may be purchased at the Augsburg College Bookstore (Oren Gateway Center) during regular business hours or online. Note: Orders may be placed online, but they must be paid for in the bookstore when students pick up their gown.
All students participating in the June 2013 Commencement must have cap and gown purchased by April 9, 2013 to avoid late fees. If your gown is not reserved by April 9th, a $15.00 late charge will be added to the final cost of your cap and gown.
