Planning for Your Internship

REGISTRATION:

Students can register for an internship credit during any academic term or summer session. Internships can be registered for one course credit or .5 course credit. One course credit involves a minimum time commitment of, on average, 10 hours per week or 140 total hours. Internships for .5 credit require a minimum of 80 total hours. Follow these steps for registering.

THE LEARNING AGREEMENT PLAN:

After you have located your internship and registered, you will need to structure the academic focus of your internship. This is done by completing an Internship Learning Agreement Plan. This plan will include clear academic learning goals, learning strategies and assessment methods. The Learning Agreement Plan, written by you, must be "approved" by your faculty supervisor and acceptable to the work supervisor.

The Learning Agreement form and a guide to writing a Learning Agreement is available in the Center for Service, Work, and Learning.
