Interdisciplinary and Team Teaching Opportunities

Some of the workculture@augsburg funds each year will be used to support pairs of faculty, and appropriate staff colleagues, team teaching courses together. This model complements other models currently available in AugSem, Honors and Connections courses. The purpose of this particular vocational opportunity is to allow faculty to work together in a partnership that does not create significant complexities in FTE allocation, yet allows a truly joint teaching and learning venture.

Details on general guidelines are forthcoming and will be posted on the web site. The general model includes: one faculty member has the course placed in his or her regular FTE load; there are stipends for planning; a significant stipend is provided for the partner teacher.  Faculty pairs are expected to design the course in such as way as both faculty members are present for nearly all classes together (thus, not a woven or sequential course model); feedback is shared not divided, and the syllabus is jointly designed.

This opportunity could be a great chance to do a topics or theme course, a new elective, or an experiential course.

If you and a colleague are interested in teaching a course together, please contact Diane Pike pike@augsburg.edu.
