Experiential Education
I love volunteering. I have a study buddy through
Common Bond at Seward Towers Apartments. It’s a ten-minute
walk from campus. I’m currently interning at the Minnesota
Council of Churches in their refugee adjustment program. I work
with a translator to help immigrants complete paperwork to get their
green cards.

Serving food at a homeless shelter, tutoring in a neighborhood school,
working with an environmental organization, or encouraging people to vote
are all examples of service and civic engagement activities that are an
integral part of Augsburg students' education.
We call this real-world learning experiential education. It can be seen
in our service-learning program, study abroad offerings, internships,
and even in the curriculum.
Augsburg’s location allows access for all of its students to take
part in “experiential education.” In fact, 100% of Augsburg
students serve in the community during their time at Augsburg, and nearly
70% complete at least one internship, taking advantage of the many resources
with business, government, and nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities.
At no other school of our size will you find such a wide array of community
and global connections.
