Scholarships
Augsburg College recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding
academic, leadership, service, and extracurricular achievements through
Augsburg’s comprehensive scholarship program.
In addition, Augsburg offers a number of donor-sponsored scholarships;
selection is made by matching the particular interests of the donor,
as stated in the scholarship description, with the student applicant.
The College awards scholarships from more than 300 donor-sponsored scholarship
funds each year to new and returning students.
Augsburg’s competitive scholarship program
All qualified
incoming Augsburg students, regardless of
financial circumstances, may apply for these awards.
Recipients must be enrolled full time in the day program
working toward their first bachelor’s degree.
President’s Scholarship
The President’s Scholarship recognizes first-year students
of exceptional academic ability with strong evidence of
leadership potential. Fifteen scholarships are awarded for
amounts ranging from $17,500 up to full tuition.
To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a 3.5 or
higher GPA in their core courses OR a 27 or greater ACT
composite (or a combined SAT score of 1210 or greater).
The scholarship is renewable for three years, based on
academic performance.
Award decisions are based on academic criteria, letters of
academic recommendation, leadership activities,
academic essays, and an on-campus interview. To receive
this award, qualified students are required to live on
campus and to participate in Augsburg’s Honors Program.
Applicants are encouraged to apply for additional
scholarships for which they qualify, but if a President’s
Scholarship is awarded, the applicant cannot receive any
other Augsburg scholarship.
Amount: From $17,500 up to full tuition per year, up
to four years
Deadline for Application: February 1, 2008
Scholarship Weekend: February 22-23, 2008

• Students who receive a President’s Scholarship are not eligible

Honors Program and President's Scholarship
Fine Arts Scholarships
The Fine Arts Scholarship recognizes incoming students who have excelled
in art, film, music, or theatre—including vocal and instrumental performance,
acting, design, and production—and who plan to actively participate
in the fine or performing arts at Augsburg. This renewable award of $3,000
per year is based on an on-campus audition or presentation. Applicants
need not major in art, film, music, or theatre, but are required to participate
in a student organization and/or a performance group. Applicants may apply
in more than one area of fine arts but may receive only one scholarship

* The $3,000 award is available to those entering Augsburg during the 08-09 school year. Students starting spring term of the 07-08 school year are eligible for a $2,500 award.
Additional scholarship opportunities
The following scholarships are given at the point of
admission based on information that is provided in the
application. Notification of the awards is done through
the acceptance letter.
Regents’ Scholarship
The Regents’ Scholarship recognizes new first-year
students of high academic achievement beginning in the
fall or new spring semester. These awards (available for up
to four years) range from $4,500 to $10,500 per year and
are awarded based on national test scores (ACT or SAT) and high school GPA. This scholarship is automatically
awarded to all qualified students who are admitted to
Augsburg College before May 1 for fall enrollment or
December 1 for spring enrollment. No application is
required for this scholarship. Recipients are notified with
acceptance of admission.
Amount: $4,500 - $10,500 per year

Transfer Regents’ Scholarship
The Transfer Regents’ Scholarship recognizes new transfer
students of high academic achievement. The renewable
awards range from $4,000 to $10,000 per year and are awarded to new transfer
students who have a grade point
average of 3.0 or above based on one year or more of completed college coursework. This scholarship is
automatically awarded to all qualified students who apply
and are accepted to Augsburg College before May 1 for
fall enrollment and December 1 for spring. No scholarship
application is required.
Amount: $4,000 - $10,000 per year

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (transfer students)
Recognizes academically qualified transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa, transferring into the day college program with one semester minimum membership in Phi Theta Kappa. Recommendation is required from the Phi Theta Kappa advisor/professor.
Amount: $2500 award for current PTK students as verified through a transcript or PTK advisor.
Deadline: Application deadline is August 1 for fall
enrollment or December 15 for spring enrollment
Science Scholarships
The Courtland Agre and Theodore Hanwick Science
Scholarships recognize incoming freshmen of high academic
science achievement. The renewable award of $10,000 per
year is awarded to all eligible proposed chemistry or physics
majors. Students must be in the top 30 percent of their high
school class or on national tests (ACT or SAT), have a grade
point average of 3.0 or above in the proposed science
major, have completed intermediate algebra or pre-calculus,
and be a full-time student in the day program. No
scholarship application is required. Students who receive a
science scholarship will not receive a Regents’ award.
Amount: $10,000 per year
Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for fall
enrollment
Augsburg Legacy Award
The Augsburg Legacy Award program is available to fulltime
day students working toward their first bachelor’s
degree, who are children or spouses of Augsburg
graduates; siblings of current Augsburg students; or
children or spouses of current ELCA pastors. No
scholarship application is required. Students who qualify
for both the Legacy Award and Regents’ Scholarship or
Transfer Regents’ Scholarship will receive only one award,
whichever is higher. Renewal is based on maintaining a
minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0,
measured at the end of spring term.
Amount: Minimum of $4,000 per year

Augsburg College Access Program (A-CAP)
The A-CAP recognizes first-year students who have
graduated from high school in good standing and who
participated in college readiness program such as
Admission Possible, TRiO, or MMEP. A-CAP students are
assured of receiving a minimum award of $4,500 per year
upon admission to Augsburg College. No scholarship
application is required.
Amount: $4,500 per year

The Augsburg Corporation Scholarship
The Augsburg Corporation Scholarship recognizes all
students who are members of an ELCA congregation
within the Minneapolis Area Synod, the St. Paul Area
Synod, the Southeast Minnesota Synod, or the Northwest
Wisconsin Synod, which own Augsburg through the
Augsburg Corporation. The scholarships of $1,000 per
year are awarded at the point of admission. No
application is necessary.
Amount: $1,000 per year

One additional option:
Augsburg PRIME Scholarship
Students who receive a scholarship from their Lutheran
congregation will receive a match in scholarship dollars
from Augsburg up to $750 a year. Verification of the
award must be submitted to the Enrollment Center by
August 1, 2008. |
