Financial Aid
Other Types of Aid
Grants
Grants are another form of financial aid that do not need to be repaid.
Rather than based on academic or other credentials, they are awarded based
upon financial need as determined by your FAFSA. They may be granted
through the federal or state government or through Augsburg College itself.
Loans
Loans are a type of financial aid which must be repaid with interest.
The federal student loan programs (FFELP and FDSLP) are a good option
to help finance the cost of your college education.

Student Employment
Federal, State, or Augsburg Employment:
On-campus employment can range from mowing grass or shoveling snow with
the grounds crew, to working at the student computing desk in the library,
to serving as an office assistant in an academic department. Working on-campus
is a great way to build connections on campus while earning money for
school.
On-campus employment opportunities are posted on the Human
Resources website. The College encourages students to work no
more than 15 hours per week.
Federal and state on-campus employment awards are need-based financial
aid and will not be included in your earnings for purposes of financial
aid requests in subsequent years. Augsburg on-campus employment is non-need
based and will be reported as income on your financial aid application
in subsequent years (as would any off-campus earnings).
While all earnings are subject to federal and state income taxes, no
Social Security taxes need to be withheld. A W-2 form will be issued to
you at the end of the calendar year.
