We now monitor and ticket for violations in Augsburg lots all 12 months of the year.
Visitor parking permits are available to all guests of the University at no cost. No current faculty, staff, or student may obtain a visitor permit for his/her own vehicle. Visitor permits are valid only in parking lot E (2-hour limit) or L. Visitor permits are also valid in any campus handicapped space (as long as the user also has a MN State handicapped permit). Visitor permits are limited, especially during busy class times such as weekdays from 8 am to 4:30 and on Augsburg for Adults class weekends.
Students’ visitors: Visit the DPS desk 24/7 with your guest to obtain a visitor parking permit.
Starting August 1st: Parking Lot E will be designated as a short-term visitor lot (2-hour limit). Guests may find a spot in the lot, visit us at the Public Safety window in Urness/Mortensen lobby, and obtain a dashboard permit to display in their vehicle. Each visitor is limited to one short-term permit daily. If you will be visiting us for longer than 2 hours, please ask for a visitor permit for Lot L.
Faculty and Staff Visitors: Electronic permits are available for faculty & staff hosting guest(s) on campus. Electronic permits allow departments to print or e-mail the visitor permit. To obtain an electronic permit, e–mail your request, including date, times, hosting department, # of permits needed, and your contact information, to email@example.com. Your permits will be printed for you to pick up from the Department of Public Safety. Please allow at least 2 business days for processing. If you are planning to have more than 15 guests at any given time, please use the Event Parking Request Form below and allow 2 weeks notice.
Hang tag visitor permits are numbered and must be hung on rear view mirror. Electronic/hang tag visitor permits must be clearly visible and unobstructed, with the number facing out the windshield of the vehicle. Improperly displayed permits are subject to ticketing. Visitor permits are issued on a first-come basis, and may be obtained no more than one month ahead of time. An alternative for guests unable to park in Augsburg visitor lots is to park on City streets surrounding campus or in the Fairview University ramp located at 24th and Riverside Avenues (Fairview fees apply to ramp parking).
One challenge we face regarding parking at Augsburg is providing space for event parking. Our priority is providing parking to students, faculty, and staff attending class or operating the institution. Public Safety will work with people planning events to help find possible solutions for group parking, but we will, under no circumstance, displace employees or students attending or studying for class. When planning an event, please keep in mind that parking space is extremely limited, especially on class days and Adult Undergraduate/Graduate class weekends.
