Visitor & Event Parking

Summer 2014 Update

Any 2013-2014 parking permit (fall, spring, or year-long) is valid during May – August 2014.If you have already purchased a parking permit for the 2013-2014 school year, you do not need to purchase another one for Summer 2014.

Visitor Parking Permits

Visitor parking permits are available to all guests of the college at no cost. No current faculty, staff, or student may obtain a visitor permit for his/her own vehicle. Visitor permits are valid only in parking lots A, specifically marked spaces in G, in Lot L as designated on the permit. Visitor permits are also valid in any campus handicapped space (as long as the user also has a MN State handicapped permit). Visitor permits are limited, especially during busy class times such as weekdays from 8 am to 4:30 and on Augsburg for Adults class weekends.

You may obtain a visitor permit two ways: Electronically (via e-mail) or in person (via a hard copy picked up at DPS).

Electronic permits are available for faculty & staff hosting quests(s) on campus. Electronic permits allow departments to print or e-mail the visitor permit. To obtain an electronic permit, please e–mail your request, including date, times, hosting department, # of permits needed, and your contact information, to parking@augsburg.edu. If available, a visitor permit will be e-mailed to you as a PDF. Please allow atleast 2 business days for processing. If you are planning to have more than 15 guests at any given time, please use the Event Parking Request Form below and allow 2 weeks notice.

Hang tag visitor permits are numbered and must be hung on rearview mirror. Electronic/hang tag visitor permits must be clearly visible and unobstructed, with the number facing out the windshield of the vehicle. Improperly displayed permits are subject to ticketing. Visitor permits are issued on a first-come basis, and may be obtained no more than one month ahead of time. An alternative for guests unable to park in Augsburg visitor lots is to park on City streets surrounding campus or in the Fairview University ramp located at 24th and Riverside Avenues (Fairview fees apply to ramp parking).

Event Parking

One challenge we face regarding parking at Augsburg is providing space for event parking. Our priority is providing parking to students, faculty, and staff attending class or operating the institution. Public Safety will work with people planning events to help find possible solutions for group parking, but we will, under no circumstance, displace employees or students attending or studying for class. When planning an event, please keep in mind that parking space is extremely limited, especially on class days and Augsburg for Adults class weekends. If you plan to have more than 15 visitors at a time on any given day, please use the event parking request form below. A parking representative will get back to you within 2-4 business days.

Note: Event parking requests must be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the event. Submitting this form does not mean you are guaranteed parking, that your lot selection is guaranteed, or that Event and Conference Planning will be able to assist you with this event.
