Video Tape
Editing Steps
* For assistance with digital
(i.e., computer-based) editing using iMovie, go to the
Atomic
Learning Library.
* For analog (i.e., tape-to-tape)
editing using the VCR-to-VCR setup in the Lindell Library, use the
following "cheat sheet" to help you remember the required sequence.
For a hands-on tutorial or other assistance, please speak with your
course instructor.
- Cue up the record deck's tape
(deck on right) to the 'in' point (point at which you want the
next edit to begin).
- Cue up the playback deck's tape
(on left) to the point where you want the image to start
transferring (also called the 'in' point)
** Use the jog-shuttle to precisely cue up your 'in' points if you
want. (you must select the 'pause' button to get it out of the
jog-shuttle mode).
- At this point, both decks should
be cued-up and in 'pause' position. While holding down 'edit
start', push preview and lift up. The edit will begin.
- When you have reached the point
when you want to edit to end (called the 'out' point), push the
'stop' button located next the 'edit start' button.
- Check the edit if you want by
rewinding and playing through it, then go on to step 1 again.
