Technology Leap Guide

Based on your own interests in media and instruction, you will select one new or existing media, instructional tool, or piece of software to thoroughly evaluate and on which you will briefly report. The oral report and written summary together are worth up to 10 points. Your research can be about a new technology (e.g., virtual reality), a new piece of software you have discovered, or a new use of an older technology (e.g., how to use a fax machine for student learning).

Your Technology Leap report will have two parts:

  1. an oral report lasting about 3-5 minutes (really 3-5 minutes! Practice your presentation and time yourself) in which you demonstrate/discuss your new technology or software. If possible, prepare visuals to enhance your oral presentation. You will be responsible for monitoring the time limit--see our course schedule on the syllabus for due date (worth up to 5 points).

  2. a 4-5 page written summary describing your Technology Leap--what did you research and what did you learn? See our course schedule on the syllabus for due date (worth up to 5 points).

Collect this written report, any visuals you use, and any other documentation (brochures, samples, etc.) in your Learning Portfolio.
