Palm OS Personal Digital Assistants: Links and Resources
Palm OS Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) are small, portable, handheld computers which supplement and compliment your desktop computer. PDAs are similar is some respects to your desktop computer: they have a screen, the screen contains icons which represent files, and you may use them to store and manipulate information. But in some important ways they are different from your desktop computer: they have no storage device (e.g., no disk drive), they typically don't have a keyboard, and, most importantly, they aren't on your desktop.
Palm OS PDAs are made by more than one manufacturer. Palm Brand PDAs (pictured on the right) are made by Palm, Inc., a division of 3Com. Handspring Visors (pictured below) also run the Palm OS software and are regarded as Palm "clones." Since both devices run the same software, you can apply nearly all of the information you find about one to the other (with some specific exceptions).
The links listed below are useful resources for finding out more about the respective devices, how to troubleshoot problems you might encounter, and how to find and use additional software titles which are available for the devices (nearly 30,000 software titles exist for the Palm platform, making it very flexible and adaptable to many specific applications).
