Creative Writing Major reads Poetry on KUSF
Creative Writing major Steve Saari was featured on the 31 March 2013 edition of KUSF Online’s “Poet as Radio” show. Saari read several poems, which the hosts then discussed. Saari’s poem “Visiting Hours” was also recently recognized with an Honorable Mention in the Engman Prize for poetry and his work has appeared in several issues of “Murphy Square.”
Irvine honored for Excellence in Teaching
Colin Irvine, Associate Professor of English, has been named the 2013 recipient of the Distinguished Contribution to Teaching and Learning award for Excellence in Teaching. The award recognize individuals who have made exemplary contributions to creating an engaging academic learning environment through teaching, scholarship, and mentoring and advising.
MFA Program Ready to Launch
In July 2013, the English Department will launch its Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, a low-residency graduate program offering concentrations in four writing genres: Creative Nonfiction, Fiction, Poetry, and Screenwriting. In summer 2014, a fifth concentration, in Playwriting, will be added.
