Matthew C Barber

Mr. Barber received his B. M. in Percussion Performance from the University of Michigan in 1980. Since that time he has performed extensively with most of the Twin Cites’ and surrounding area’s theatres and orchestras. He was the staff percussionist at the Guthrie Theatre from 1980-87( where he also served as assistant conductor), has performed numerous times with such groups as the Joffery, San Francisco, Winnipeg and ABT ballet companies, Pavarotti, The Three Tenors, David Byrne and various other entities. Mr. Barber was principle percussionist with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra from 1995-97, and currently is the principal percussionist with the Minnesota Opera, a post he has held for five years. He also plays extra percussion with the Minnesota Orchestra.
