Annette M Gerten

Associate Professor

Professor Gerten “likes to mix it up a lot” when she teaches.  During a typical class session, students in her classes are likely to be engaged in class discussion, small group projects, and experiential exercises.  Students describe her as a “teacher who cares about how we are doing in our personal lives.”  Professor Gerten has worked at Augsburg part-time and/or full-time since 1997.  Former students remember her teaching throughout two of her pregnancies and she is now the mother of three.  Courses that are usually taught by Professor Gerten include the foundation field seminar, research courses, and family social policy.  Prior to receiving her Ph.D. she was employed as a school social worker, family therapist, pre-school day treatment supervisor, and evaluation consultant.
