Kenneth S Kaminsky

Professor

Before coming to Augsburg, Ken taught mathematics and statistics in colleges and universities in both the United States and Sweden. He is the founding editor of the department’s newsletter L’Augarithms, now in its 26th year, and is Augsburg’s liaison with ValuPak University’s Professor Fogelfroe. His book, Financial Literacy: Introduction to the Mathematics of Interest, Annuities, and Insurance, written originally as a text for Augsburg’s Math of Interest course, was published in 2003 by University Press of America. The second edition appeared in 2010.

Ken’s wife, Amy, is a Professor of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Minnesota. They have two children. Jonathan, is a journalist living in Olympia, WA, and writes for Reuters. David, an ethnomusicologist, is a member of the Global Arts faculty of the University of California at Merced.

Ken’s non-mathematical interests include table tennis, music, movies, eating out, languages, and riding his motor scooter.
