Patty Marincic assumed the position of Academic Coordinator in September 2005. She brings 15 years of experience in curriculum development in the health sciences. Patty has identified two major strengths of the Academic Phase of the Augsburg PA program. First, the 3-semester Clinical Medicine course is taught by a highly qualified mix of department faculty, practicing PAs, and local physicians from the surrounding medical community that lecture on topics specific to their expertise and clinical practice. The second is the integrated nature of the program, where specific organs systems are covered concurrently in Clinical Medicine, Pharmacotherapy, and History and Physical Exam courses.
Patty is pleased to be a member of the highly qualified and dedicated team of faculty and staff within the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and brings her own set of unique qualifications to the table. Patty is a registered dietitian and teaches topics in nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, epidemiology, and selected areas of clinical medicine including gastroenterology, endocrinology, hematology, and pediatrics. “I like to be thorough and organized in my lectures, but more importantly utilize adapted case studies from my clinical practice to make the learning experience real to students.” Patty feels that students should be actively involved in the learning process and values student input.
“I enjoy getting to know the students, guiding the learning experience, fostering professional development, and sending graduates off prepared to face the new challenges of the next chapter of their lives.”
