Peter Martin Morales was born in Guatemala. The son of archeologists, he grew up amidst the ruins of Tikal, a Classic Maya city only just then uncovered from the forest of Northern Guatemala. His understanding of culture, history, and stories is rooted in this experience.

Morales holds a BA in Biology from Ripon College, Wisconsin and an MA in Hispanic Literatures and Linguistics from the University of Minnesota.

Morales has taught at Augsburg College since 2007.

Morales is also a sculptor exploring the relationship between the visual arts and language. When not in class or meeting with students he is in his sculpture studio in Saint Paul doing research in various media.

Morales’s work graces various public locations throughout Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and the greater metropolitan region. Smaller works are found in private collections throughout the Americas. He has exhibited widely.
