Sarah Myers

Sarah Myers is an Assistant Professor in the Theater Department and a Playwriting Mentor in the MFA Creative Writing Program at Augsburg College. She teaches a range of courses at Augsburg, including Script Analysis, Playwriting I, Theater History & Criticism II, and Creative Drama. Her research interests include community-engaged and grassroots theater, new play development, youth theater, girls’ studies, and solo and collective performance; her academic writing can be found in TDR: The Drama ReviewThe Reflective Teaching Artist, and TYA Today.

For the past four years, Sarah has served as the writer-adapter for Sod House Theater, a Twin Cities-based company headed by Luverne Seifert and Darcey Engen that creates site-specific, locally relevant productions in collaboration with communities throughout the state of Minnesota. Outside of Sod House, her work has been produced in venues across the country from the Wild Project in New York to the Off Center in Austin, TX, and her published plays include The Realm and God of the Gaps. She is a former company member with Austin-based theater collective Rude Mechanicals, and was a longtime director of Rude Mechs’ Grrl Action program. She holds a BS in Theater and English from Northwestern University, an MFA in Playwriting from the University of Texas at Austin (with a focus in Drama & Theater for Youth), and a PhD in Performance as Public Practice from UT-Austin.
