"“Although
trained as a painter, I have for some years now been working mostly incolored
pencil on paper. I like the directness of the process, and the degree
of precisionand control it affords.
Learning to paint or draw is, as much anything else,
about learning to see. Most of theseimages derive from very mundane objects
one might find anywhere. I'm interested in theambiguity achieved by looking
at a familiar or very ordinary thing in a new way, and in the somewhat
uneasy place between realism and abstraction.”
