"The Siren's Cry, an exhibit of paintings by Margo Selski"
November 7 - December 18, 2003
Opening reception: Friday, November 7, 5 - 7 p.m.
The Gage Family Art Gallery

Exhibit Notes

The Siren’s Cry, an exhibit of paintings by Margo Selski, will be on display in the Christensen Center Gallery at Augsburg College from November 7 until December 18, 2003. The exhibit’s opening reception is scheduled for Friday, November 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Selski’s paintings are oil on canvas, with an added layer of beeswax to enhance the texture of the surface. This process allows the surface of the paintings to crack and appear archaic, giving them the look of early Northern European paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Margo Selski received a Masters in Fine Art from the University of Minnesota. She also received a Masters in Art for Children from the State University of New York in Brockport, New York. Her undergraduate degree is from Berea College, Kentucky. She has been a full-time studio painter since 1994. Her oil and beeswax paintings have been featured in several one-person exhibitions, including the Plains Art Museum and the State University Gallery in Brockport, New York. Her work has been recognized for its excellence, producing numerous awards and honors, and has been collected by the Tweed Museum, the Plains Art Museum, and the Frederick Weisman Museum. She currently works as affiliate faculty at the College of Visual Arts and travels around the state giving artist talks.
