Thousands of words—black type on white paper—provide
artist Loretta Bebeau with the basic materials for her mixed-media paintings.
Drafts of her MA thesis about artistic identity in contemporary society
are resurrected from the recycling bin and become abstract lines and textures.
“Words Saved,” an exhibition of these minimal and meaningful
collages, will open in the Christensen Center Gallery on Friday, September
17 and run until Sunday, October 31.
Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, October
7, from 7-10 p.m., which will coincide with “Art Attack: Five College
Art Crawl.” Augsburg is teaming up with Concordia College, College
of St. Catherine, Macalester College, and University of St. Thomas to
make an evening of exhibition openings a fun and memorable experience.
Grab a friend or two and check out the art at these other campuses. Getting
around is easy; just climb on the ACTC buses that will be running all
evening long. Enjoy food, live music, and talking with featured artist
Loretta Bebeau.
On Thursday, October 14, from 5-7 p.m. the Christensen
Center Gallery will again be lively with food, live music, and an artist
demonstration. The festivities are scheduled as part of the 3rd Annual
Art on the Town, a ten-day visual arts celebration sponsored by the Twin
Cities Fine Arts Organization. Loretta Bebeau will be demonstrating her
art making techniques from 5:30-6:00 pm in Christensen Center.
All events are free and open to the public.
