Bold, ambiguous shapes hover and collide in Rebecca
Shewmake’s multivalent paintings and prints, which will be featured
in the Gage Family Art Gallery as part of Augsburg’s Summer Emerging
Artist Series. Shewmake’s chaotic narratives begin as daily notes
made about everyday occurrences in her sketchbook. By abstracting and
combining her findings, the artist creates unique shapes that represent
complicated thoughts and feelings.
Shewmake recently received her BFA from the University
of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
All events at the Augsburg Art Galleries are free and open to the general
public.
