Wood-fired ceramic, life sized |
The sculpture of Jane Frees-Kluth opens a dialogue with science as it
begins to reshape human physiology. These works are inspired by a 21st
century relationship to the human body. As lab workers worldwide begin
to manipulate and evolve the human genome what roll will artists play?
These works ask important questions about our species' future. Playing
equally with our sense of the whimsical and divine, they inspire the
viewer to rethink the relationship of the human figure to the mythology
of modern times.
A sculptor trained in architectural design, Frees-Kluth is a long-time
public artist whose commissioned works are on view in the Twin Cities
and surrounding suburbs. Her sculpture has also been featured in
numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past ten years. In
addition, Frees-Kluth is a paintings conservator for TMORA, the Museum
of Russian Art.
All events at the Augsburg Art Galleries are free and open to the
general public.
