Galleries and Exhibits - Beth Loraine Bowman - Trains and Other Transport
Bowman’s most recent painting series consists of 32 mixed media works on wood panel, each one 2 ft. by 2 ft. that are intended to be used in a “flexible modular fashion.” The malleable format of the pieces invigorates their formal qualities, where vibrant colors and gestural abstract forms collide with pasted images, words, and even postage stamps. Movement, intersections, and the global travel of people and goods permeate the images without shutting down their suggestive qualities.
Bowman lives and works in St. Paul, Minnesota. She received her BFA from the College of Visual Arts and has lived in southern France, studying painting and art history. She also holds an MA in Curriculum and Instruction in Art Education from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and a graduate certificate from the College of Design, also at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She has shown her work throughout the United States and Europe.
All events are free and open to the public.
