Galleries and Exhibits - Landfall: Jared Watsabaugh
July 10 - August 21, 2009
Student Art Gallery
Christensen Center
Artist reception: Friday, July 10, 6 - 8 p.m.
For over a year Jared Watsabaugh has been photographing Landfall, Minnesota. Located just outside of St. Paul and hidden by tree cover, this small community of less than 1,000 goes largely unnoticed by people who might pass it daily on I-94. But Landfall is unique in that it is one of only two incorporated cities in the United States that consists primarily of manufactured housing. This exhibition is a portrait of one of the most affordable communities in the Twin Cities-a portrait of the people, young and old, who work and play in Landfall.
Watsabaugh is a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and a contributing photographer for the non-profit OverExposure, an organization founded by Augsburg photography professor Susan Boecher. Since his graduation in 2006, Jared has been working on multiple photography projects ranging from large format studio work to documentary photography.
All events are free and open to the public.
