Augsburg College staff present at the Diversity Abroad Conference

Andrea W. Dvorak and Dulce O. Monterrubio presented a session entitled “Breaking Barriers: Off-campus Options for DACA and Students with Various Immigration Statuses” at the 3rd Annual Diversity Abroad Conference in New Orleans, LA earlier this week. The session separated facts from myths, provided information and awareness about how to serve permanent residents, asylees/refugees, international students as well as the much newer category of DACA students, and shared tools and resources for advising these students about international and other off-campus study experiences.

The session was very well attended by professionals in both International Education and Diversity/Multicultural Affairs and the presenters were asked for additional resources, consulting and follow up on serving these students. Thanks to Andrea and Dulce for highlighting the work Augsburg College is doing to offer inclusive study away opportunities to students with all statuses and situations!
