Sponsor your own Travel Seminar
Want to design a program for your community?
Each year, we organize dozens of travel seminars, the majority of which are sponsored by one or two individuals with a particular audience in mind. We work with many college and university faculty, administrators and students to design programs in conjunction with a course for credit, an alumni trip or faculty development seminar. Other sponsors come from high schools, faith communities, non-profits, companies or businesses.
To “sponsor” a seminar doesn’t mean that you are financially responsible for the entire program, although a $500 deposit is required to reserve a date against inquiries from other groups. Rather, a sponsor is someone who takes responsibility for working with the Center for Global Education to plan the program and recruit participants. In addition, sponsors work with a Center's staff member to design a program suited to your audience with regards to destination, theme, length and cost.
All travel seminar sponsors need to complete a sponsor application as well as a program planning checklist for the country or countries where you would like your group to travel. If you are a first-time sponsor, please read our sponsor guide for detailed information about what goes into planning a seminar with us. These planning documents will help us work with you to design a program that fits the specific needs of your group. We welcome you to contact us if you would like to speak with someone in our office to talk about customized travel seminar planning.
