Customize a Trip to Cuba
Update on Travel to Cuba
CGE is happy to announce that we are now leading travel seminars in Cuba.Educational travel Seminars:
Effective immediately, accredited U.S. graduate and undergraduate degree-granting institutions are able to travel under a general educational license if the Cuba travel is part of a structured educational program. and will be accepted for credit towards a students degree. We are not required to apply for such a trip, so we can now customize educational for-credit seminars.
Non-Academic Travel Seminars:
On September 15, 2011, CGE was granted a people-to-people license. This license enables us to coordinate educational programs (which are not for credit) for people wanting to engage in meaningful interaction with individuals in Cuba. Each traveler must engage in a full-time schedule of educational exchange activities. Our first program under this license will be in February 2012 that will be open for general enrollment.

Location
Cuba offers a rich cross-cultural educational opportunity - Cuba's political and socio-economic realities are fascinating to explore, and the public health and education systems are interesting as well. Arts and culture are central in Cuba; Afro-Cuban culture plays a key role in the country, as does the legacy of Spanish colonialism and the roots of the Taino and Ciboney cultures.
Cuba is the most populous island nation in the Caribbean with 11 million residents. The majority of days with CGE in Cuba are spent in Havana, the capital, with a day or two in a more rural setting.

Staff
Program staff from one of our permanent sites in Central America or Mexico, or from our Minneapolis headquarters, will design seminars to Cuba and accompany groups there. Coordination occurs in conjunction with our partner in Cuba, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center. The MLK Center's fundamental objective is to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and its churches. The MLK Center is composed of many different faith communities whose commitment to the goals of the Cuban Revolution unites them in service. The MLK Center is also home to the Paulo Freire Information and Documentation Center as part of its commitment to the principles of popular education.Accommodations
