Church World Service

Founded in 1946, CWS is the relief, development, and refugee assistance ministry of 35 Protestant, Orthodox, and Anglican denominations in the United States.  Working in partnership with indigenous organizations in more than 80 countries, CWS works worldwide to meet human needs and foster self-reliance for all whose way is hard.  Within the United States, CWS assists communities in responding to disasters, resettles refugees, promotes fair national and international policies, provides educational resources, and offers opportunities to join a people-to-people network of local and global caring through participation in CROP Hunger Walks, the Tools & Blankets Program, and the CWS Kits Program.

 

Ecumenical Coalition on Third World Tourism (ECTWT)

ECTWT is a Hong Kong-based coalition of regional ecumenical organizations and over 70 secular and faith-based groups.  It seeks to unite people around collective efforts that negate the undesirable effects of modern tourism and, in its place, institute socially responsible and ethically-oriented tourism.  It believes that tourism must be based on justice and sustainability for host communities and that, therefore, tourism planning and practice must be democratized.  ECTWT advocates respect for the protection and dignity of the human rights of women, children, and indigenous peoples and workers in the tourist trade.  It opposes tourism projects that create environmental devastation.

 

Guatemala Human Rights Commission/USA

Founded in 1982, the Guatemala Human Rights Commission/USA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, humanitarian organization that monitors, documents, and reports on the human rights situation in Guatemala, advocates for survivors of human rights abuses in Guatemala, and works toward positive, systemic change.
