African National Congress

The ANC site’s regular postings include press statements by the ANC and the government, and a daily news briefing.  It allows viewers to e-mail the South African president and members of parliament, and ANC leaders.  It also contains many South Africa-related links, including business, education, finance, government and politics, environment, human rights, labor, and media links.

African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD)

ACCORD is a South Africa-based civil society organization working throughout Africa to bring creative African solutions to the challenges posed by conflict on the continent.  Its primary aim is to influence political developments by bringing conflict resolution, dialogue, and institutional development to the forefront as an alternative to armed violence and protracted conflict.  ACCORD specializes in conflict management, analysis, and prevention and intervenes in conflicts through mediation, negotiation, training, research, and conflict analysis.

 

African Studies Center (University of Pennsylvania)

The African Studies Center at the University of Pennsylvania brings together researchers and students, along with cultural, business, and media entities, to gain knowledge of contemporary and historical Africa.

 

National Consortium for Study in Africa (NCSA)

This new consortium seeks to improve the cross-cultural learning of students and faculty in the United States through study in Africa.  Its site contains a listing of places to study in Africa, features current announcements and notes of interest, and offers study abroad travel tips and resource web links.

 

TransAfrica Forum

TransAfrica Forum is the oldest and largest African American human rights and social justice advocacy organization promoting diversity and equity in the foreign policy arena and justice for the African World.  TransAfrica Forum envisions a world where Africans and people of African descent are self-reliant, socially and economically prosperous, and equal participants in a just international system structured to benefit their self-determined governments and peoples.  To this end, TransAfrica Forum serves as an educational and organizing center that encourages progressive viewpoints in the United States foreign policy arena and advocates justice for the people of Africa and the African Diaspora. The organization promotes solidarity with the oppressed and supports human rights, gender equity, democracy, and sustainable economic and environmental development practices in Africa and other countries where people of African descent reside.
