Other Web Sites of Interest

At the Center for Global Education, we often hear from former participants who, finding themselves transformed by their experience, want to integrate what they have witnessed and learned into their daily lives.

As a recent returnee, you may be seeking continuity between your experience and your life at home. Or you may be interested in reading more about the country you have visited and staying up-to-date on current events there.

We hope that the web sites mentioned below may provide some guidance.  Of course, this represents only a sampling of organizations active in issues of social justice around the world. We encourage you to continue to expand your personal list of resources for staying connected with your Center for Global Education experience.  If you have suggestions for additional websites, please let us know!

National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE)

www.nsee.org

The mission of NSEE is to foster the effective use of experience as an integral part of education, in order to empower learners and promote the common good. The goals of the organization are:

  • to advocate for the use of experiential learning throughout the educational system and the larger community;

  • to disseminate information on principles of good practice and on innovations in the field;

  • to enhance the professional growth and leadership development of our members; and

  • to encourage the development and dissemination of research and theory related to experiential learning.

A key component of NSEE’s mission is to enhance the professional development of its members.  Another component of the mission is to be the national leader in advancing experiential education as a field and a profession.  In order to accomplish both aspects of this mission, NSEE has created the Experiential Education Academy (EEA or the Academy).

The EEA supports and contributes to both the day-to-day work effectiveness and the long-term development of NSEE members through a series of professional workshops leading to a Certificate of Completion.  The program is designed for all practitioners, regardless of specific experiential application.  The set of workshops creates a common base of knowledge and set of competencies for the field of experiential education and allows participants the flexibility to increase their expertise in their own particular interest areas.

The Center is pleased that Education for Global Citizenship , to be held in Nicaragua in 2008, is offered as an elective in the EEA!
