Nicaragua

Faculty Development: Education for Global Citizenship

June 23- July 1, 2012

This professional development seminar is designed for faculty from a variety of disciplines in order to explore and discuss the meaning of global citizenship within the context of Nicaragua.
Participants will be exposed to a broad cross-section of Nicaraguan society and will have the opportunity to explore theories and best practices of experiential education in an intercultural
context. The seminar will give you the opportunity to network with faculty across disciplines and discuss ways to promote global citizenship. Brochure Travel Now

Cuba

The April open seminar in Cuba has been CANCELED. Due to unprecedented demand for other seminars, CGE is not able to go forth with this trip.  We regret its recent advertisement in the Global News and Notes. 

Mexico

2012 Elections: Democracy and the Fight for Social Justice

June 25-July 3, 2012

A firsthand experience of the presidential elections will be a fascinating experience, especially after Mexico celebrated its bicentennial as an independent country and is still looking for social justice. This travel seminar will examine different perspectives on the upcoming elections and its possible outcome as well as the key issues the new government will face within the current context of neoliberalism and globalization. This program will also explore current economic and social conditions, key issues in Mexico, and cultural treasures. Brochure  Travel Now 


Guatemala

Education for Decolonization

June 22-30, 2013

On this professional Development Seminar, educators will analyze the enduring legacy of colonialism, consider the responsibility to understand the dynamics of colonialism, and study the strategies being employed to decolonize and reconstruct more just communities. The program will also address the roles that international organizations and committed individuals have played in addressing systems of domination and defending the rights of Indigenous peoples in Guatemala. Activities include travel to the highlands to visit with Indigenous communities; dialogues with women about gender roles in a changing society; visits to schools; and participation in a Mayan religious ceremony.  Further details and a registration link will be posted soon.  If you are interested in this seminar, please contact us.  Brochure
